![]() ![]() An essential to road safety is road awareness, both in front and behind you. While most cars only feature front fog lights, some have rear ones, as well. By not reflecting the fog off, the light does not perceive fog as an obstacle and better illuminates the road ahead. Most manufacturers fix fog lights just above the ground at the cutoff angle to avoid the fog reflecting off them. Fog lights function differently than your standard headlights and high beams. besides tint bumper/fogs is next! thanks for ur help all. Before going into the specifics of the fog light symbol, you must understand what these lights do. but it looks like on my bumper it was touched up on one side.and the alloy rims have like this lil spider effect on the rim.like maybe they were painted >(. ill post pics soon as i get em.i also think some crap body work done because.i got the car a week ago.had a clean carfax. Paint match problem makes sense.but i also think there was some crapy body work on the car on just part of the bumper. Hardest part for me was aiming, extending the hot wire to the switch (only 2 feet long), and i havent mounted the switch yet (need a drill)Shame on the fitment thing.I have read that before. There are mounting holes for the bumper that i poped out and bolted the fogs in. Mounted em behind the lower center grill. I bought $20 fog light kit at autozone, along with i smaller $5 led switch. The fact that our bumper covers are plastic and the 1/4 panels are metal will make the paint almost impossible to match Yea its not your bumper that fitment issue happens with all of our cars. Hardest part for me was aiming, extending the hot wire to the switch (only 2 feet long), and i havent mounted the switch yet (need a drill) Good to know all balts not prewired.but i do want a bumper with fogs.not sure what kind i want yet though.thanks for the info! ill look into this further.Yea its not your bumper that fitment issue happens with all of our cars. fitment terrible around one light, and paint on one side looks darker than should be. But.I need a new bumper anyway.thats the only thing that needs to be replaced on my balt. Im a newbie with cars, and desperate to learn all i can about the car. will introduce myself formally, once i take some pics. I got my balt a week ago and im new to the forum. Good to know all balts not prewired.but i do want a bumper with fogs.not sure what kind i want yet though.thanks for the info! ill look into this further. This mod cost me $20 for the trim with the switch and $35 for the fogs. Thanks for the reply. (I can see the indicator symbol on the panel but it doesn't light up.)īy the way, I didn't think it was worth spending all that money for a new bumper, grilles, fog lights, harness, etc. Just no indicator symbol in the instrument panel. So I just bought aftermarket fog lights and connected them to the fog light fuse and viola. I had bought a replacement trim with the fog light switch in it, and when I connected the switch and pressed it, I heard clicking near the fuse box, so I knew it was switching on/off something. There was a wire for the fog light switch behind the dash trim next to the interior light switch. My Cobalt did not have wires to attach the factory fog lights. ![]()
